Condition evidence that follows the cargo
A marine cargo survey is most valuable when it creates a continuous, understandable record of the cargo condition at a defined point in the transport chain. The objective is not simply to photograph cargo, but to connect condition, packaging, handling circumstances and documents in a way that can be used later by operational or claims teams.
Where the assignment covers more than one stage, consistent package identification and photography help show whether damage was pre-existing, developed during handling, or was first visible at discharge or delivery. The report should clearly separate observed facts from information supplied by third parties.
